Relief Society Board Meeting

 on Sunday, March eleventh

from six to eight pm at the church

 This semi-annual meeting is a great opportunity for you to receive training that is specific to your calling and to come together with others who share in the same sweet spirit of service in such a blessed women's auxiliary. 

A member of the RS Presidency will be contacting you prior to the Board Meeting to learn of any concerns and questions you may have about your calling so that we can better address your needs!  Please look for this correspondence and respond so that we can better serve you!

SCRIPTURE STUDY GROUP

Scripture Discussions is a new group Sis. Rachael Andrews would like to start.  We will meet every other Tuesday.  The first meeting will be Tuesday Feb. 21 @ 9:30 am at Sis. Andrews' house:

The primary goals of the group will be to experience a spiritual pick-me-up during the week, and enjoy an uplifting social environment where all are welcome, and all are encouraged to share their thoughts.

The first meeting we will discuss some scriptures about the word of God, and talk about what people would like to get out of the group.  Please email Rachael at andrews.rachael@gmail.com to be added to the list of interested sisters.

LOOKING FOR A TWIN BED

I am looking for a twin bed. My neighbor told me today that her daughters bed fell apart and she is now sleeping on a mattress on the floor. She doesn't have the money to buy one new and was hoping to buy one for cheap or even better get one that someone was throwing out for free. She has a good mattress and is only in need of a twin bed or a twin frame.

BYU MANAGEMENT SCHOLARSHIPS!

The BYU Management Society is offering scholarships to all graduating Seniors. If you would like further information please refer to the email that was sent out earlier this morning, which contains the application to apply.

The deadline for applications is Mar 23, 2012.  The announcements about the awards will be made on Apr 19, 2012.

SEMINARY ESSAY CONTEST

Mormon Battalion Association 

Essay Writing Contest 

Open to all LDS Seminary Students 

Eligible Participants 

LDS seminary students and other students in grades 9–12 are invited to do 

research and write an essay on some aspect of the history of the Mormon 

Battalion. 

Subject and Writing Instructions 

• The subject is to be a true story, event, or biography of a person or persons involved in the Mormon Battalion. 
• Each essay should be the original work of the student author, be between 1,500 and 2,000 words (typed and double-spaced), and include source citations and footnotes. Pictures may also be included. 
• Each essay should include the author's name, address, and telephone number. 
• Each essay submitted becomes the property of the Mormon Battalion Association and will not be reproduced in any way (except for copies to the judging panel) without the author’s permission. 
• Students should keep a copy of their essay. 
• The contest is limited to the first 50 submissions. 
• Entries must be postmarked no later than March 31, 2012. 
• Essays may be sent by either e-mail or mail (see note).

 Note: Although essays may be mailed, if possible the preferred way to

Judging 

Essays will be judged on content, style, and tone by a Mormon 

Battalion committee. 

Awards 

Three winning essay writers will be recognized at the Mormon Battalion Heritage Day program on 

June 16, 2012 (to be held at the Sons of Utah Pioneers building, 3301 East 2920 South, Salt Lake 

City, Utah). Although essay winners are invited to attend the program, attendance is not required for 

recipients to receive the award. The awards are as follows: 

• First place award: $400 
• Second place award: $200 
• Third place award: $100
