Pursuit of Excellence Program
Hello Ladies!
My name is Chelsie Moline and I am on the Relief Society Activity Comitee. My specific calling is to let everyone know about the Pursuit of Excellence Program for the Relief Society.
Have you heard of it?
I hadn't before now, but I am glad I am learning about it now. It is so fun! It is much like the Young Women's personal progress program, but for Relief Society!
If you would like a Pamphlet, I am sure the Relief Society Presidency can obtain one for you, that is where I got mine.
It looks like this.
In it are different areas where you can make and achieve goals.
On page three (I took a picture of it just for you) there is an example of "a simple approach to recording a goal and a plan to achieve it."
If you are like me, and you have rarely written down a goal before you set out to achieve it, I suggest you start here. It is where I will be starting.
The example given is this---
What to do
Read the Book of Mormon by ( enter date ) . marking and recording passages of special meaning to me.
How to do it
So, there are 10 different areas specified in the pamphlet to improve upon. Very fun.
As I was pondering what advice I would give someone who wanted to embark on this goal setting program, I settled on this---
Find some time to sit and meditate about your desires.
What is it that you would like to do with yourself? Do you have any talents you would like to spend some time developing? Do you have certain interests you have always wished you had more time for? Is there something new you would like to learn to do or accomplish?
What do you WANT?
If you could face yourself a year from now, what would you like to see different?
If you do not find something you are genuinely interested in, it will likely be drudgery to keep your goals, and I don't believe that is why this program IS.
So for example.
I have a STRONG desire to be a gardener. I know very little about gardening. So I am going to WRITE DOWN my goal to be a gardener and produce edible-- something--- this year. EDIBLE SOMETHING.
And guess what? If this is a goal of yours as well, I happen to know that there are going to be some Relief Society activities over the next year that we can attend that will help us achieve this goal.
I have heard there will be a square foot gardening class soon. Then, there will be a canning class in the fall.
How cool is that? So if I KNOW that is something I want to learn about and do this year, I will write down how I will go about it, then I will do it.
And I will be so excited at the end of the year when I look at my little pamphlet and see how I have grown!
SO---
First step: get one of these little pamplets. Read the introduction, it is quite inspiring.
Second step: ponder and think about your DESIRES, PASSIONS, TALENTS, etc for a bit.
What do you WANT?
Third step: write down how you will attain your wants by using the guide on page three of the pamphlet.
Fourth: enjoy!
Enjoy not only doing wonderful things, but acknowledging you have done so by checking off your goals.
I am excited to do this with everyone and also to have it be my job to make you more aware of this program.
It is really wonderful.
I would love for you to let me know if you are participating, you can email me at
ccmoline@hotmail.com
We can support and help one another as sisters.
Love to you,
Chelsie Moline

- Evaluate progress towards completion of goal on the first Sunday each month.

Tailor Services Needed
Hello Sisters!
I am wondering if one of you lovely ladies could tailor a suit for my hubby. The jacket needs to be taken in a couple inches, waist of pant let out just a little (so his belly is comfy when he sits) and pants hemmed. Rem could bring it by Thursday evening. We re needing to get his suit tailored ASAP bc he has an interview next weekend. If you could be of help, please email me or call at 870-930-0579. We of course would pay for the tailoring services.
Have a wonderful day ladies!

Book Group/Movie Night Thursday
Ladies,
I have finally tracked down the movie information for Thursday! I called the Malco and asked why they don't have showtimes listed past Tuesday (tomorrow). The guy answered "well...we weren't sure whether or not we were going to be getting this one movie...The Last Song...so we haven't been able to post our showtimes."
Yikes! So I replied without taking a breath (I actually may have yelled) "that's the movie I want to see! My whole book group is planning to go see it! Are you going to show it!?!?!"
Fortunately, they decided that they are going to show it. I guess our plans would have changed if they didn't! So despite some theater drama, we will be going to watch The Last Song THIS Thursday, April 1st. The movie starts at 7:25.
I don't think there is any point in meeting out front. Everyone just purchase your ticket and go on into the theater. I will try to get there early to save a row or two. Hopefully it won't be crowded on a Thursday night.
The movie will end about 9:15. Then we will all head over to Mimi's for some dessert and discussion. If you can't make it to the movie, feel free to meet us at Mimi's for yummy treats and chit chat (about the book and movie, of course!)
This is the first time Nicholas Sparks has written the screenplay for one of his books. I am really looking forward to it!
See you Thursday!
Aubrey
*Note to all new sisters: This movie is playing at the Pinnacle Promenade Mall Malco.

Ladies Night Out
OK, ladies, anyone want to go to the John Q Hammons center tonight? They are hosting the Taste of Home Cooking School. Their website says it's $10, but Marty said he heard the radio say it was $15 at the door. Either way, not too bad. You get a goodie bag and cookbook for that. They have booths open at 4:30 and the cooking demonstrations start at 7.
Here's their website with a little more information:

Free Lesson Registration
This lesson is totally free—no strings attached! It’s our gift to your community during this tough economy. The lesson will consist of Dave teaching his steps to get out of debt, build wealth, and save for the future. These principles apply to everyone—whether wealthy or struggling in debt.
We expect seats to fill up quickly, so we are still adding host locations to make sure everyone can find a class to attend. The free lessons will be held the week of April 5th - 12th. After registration, we will send you an email with a list of locations hosting the free lesson in your area. Then, you can choose where you would like to attend!
Check out http://www.daveramsey.com/fpu/free-lesson/ictid/fpuhf2/ for more information. I have no idea where our location would be, but maybe if enough sign up around here, it would be somewhere close by...

April Book Group
We had a great time discussing Book of a Thousand Days on Thursday. Thank you Joy for leading our discussion and Chelsie for hosting. I have to say that was the best bean dip I have ever tasted! There is nothing better than an evening with friends and yummy treats!!
For April, we are going to try something a little different. We are going to be reading The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks. There is a movie based on this book that is coming soon to theaters. On Thursday, April 1st, we will meet at the movie theater and watch the movie together. I am thinking we will probably go for dessert and discussion afterward. I don't have details yet because the theater doesn't have showtimes released that far in advance. Just be sure to mark you calendars!
Also, if you would like to get a jump on reading, here are our next few books:
May- The Five Love Languages or The Five Love Languages of Children by Gary Chapman. We did the original book a few years back and it was a huge sucess. If you have already read the original, you may want to check out the "for children" version. We will incorporate both into the discussion.
June- The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (you will probably also want to read book #2 in the series, Catching Fire)
July- We would like to find a really good book on health and fitness since this is a topic that we have never done. Some suggestions are: Love Your Body: A Diet-Free Approach to Balanced Eating by Brooke Parker or You: on a Diet by Michael F. Roizen M.d. If anyone has read either of these or if you have any other good ideas, please let me know!
Happy reading!
Aubrey

Humanitarian Project for March
Guess what? March is Red Cross Month so we’ve decided to work with them to send Easter packages to the soldiers overseas. So we are just having evening Humanitarian Services on Thursday March 11 at 7 p.m. at the church. There will be no morning session.
So what are putting in these care packages? All the necessities…
- If you are able, we’re also requesting $1-2 donations to help offset the cost of shipping. A flat rate box costs $12 but then we can stuff it as full as we want without being concerned about weight.
We would like to get a rough estimate of how many boxes we will need. Would you please e-mail Kristen Cornelsen at erikandkristen@gmail.com to let us know what you plan to put in these packages? There will also be a sign up sheet passed around on Sunday.
Thank you!
So what are putting in these care packages? All the necessities…
- Cookies and treats, store bought or homemade (we’ll provide ideas on Sunday for storage on homemade cookies)
- Easter decorations! Be creative! Our contact at the Red Cross has been over to Afghanistan to help and she said that these little pieces of home really lift the soldiers’ spirit.
- Letters of encouragement. We would love it if you want to write a short letter as a family, but we will also have paper available on Thursday night if you want to write a quick note too.

Learn to Play the Organ-- FREE
If you are interested in learning how to play the organ, here is a great opportunity!!!
The March BYU newsletter says that they are now offering a free online organ course designed to help people who know how to play the piano adapt those skills in order to learn to play the organ. I looked through the info and it looks pretty similar to BYU's beginner organ course.
Here's the link for anyone who might be interested in this:

Consignment Sale this weekend
There is a huge children's consignment sale event this weekend. This sale is HUGE! This is my third year to shop and my second year as a consigner, and I always find a ton of stuff and some really good deals. It is located at the John Q Hammons Center at the Embassy Suites in Rogers. The sale dates and times are:
Thursday, March 4th
9:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Friday, March 5th 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Half price sale (when you will find really, really good deals):
Saturday, March 6th 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM
They offer a special early shopping time for mom's-to-be on Wednesday night from 6:00-10:00 pm. If you are expecting and want to shop early, you need to print out a pass from their website, nwa.rhealana.com
The sale is really well organized, but I recommend leaving your children at home if at all possible.
