QUILTING CLASS

We had a great turnout at our meeting this month and I really enjoyed visiting with the sisters—especially those from the Branch that I don’t get to see anymore. But we had a conflict with the Branch while they were setting up for their quarterly meeting. So, we have decided to try it on a different day and we are going to add an evening session, as well. We will be having the quilting class on the 4th Tuesday of each month from 9-11 am and 7-9 pm at the church. That way, those that work or have too many things during the day will have a chance to come after their husbands get home if they want to.

The next class will be on Tuesday, April 26th at the times listed above. The block we will be working on is called the Spinning Four Patch. I have copied and pasted what the block looks like and the material list below. The sisters who attended decided to try to get it cut out before the class, so they can have more of a chance to sew and finish the block before they leave. If you are comfortable doing this, go ahead. If you have questions, or are afraid to try, I can help you with the cutting during class. I will have a copy of the full instructions for you at class.

Also, I have lots of scrap fabric if you want to use some just to see if you like making this block before you go buy anything. Just let me know, so I can bring something to class for you. I will bring my machine, rotary cutter and mat for anyone who would like to use them during class, as well.

FREE CLASS

Beehive Mercantile is hosting a"72 Hour Kit" free class. The class will cover a variety of topics including

• what essential emergency items to store
• how to store these items
• where to store these items
• and why these items are important to have

The class will be offered on Saturday, March 26th from 3:00-4:30.

Space is limited so please pre-register.

FURNITURE FOR GRABS

We have a couch, double chair and ottoman that we are giving away. The ottoman has a rip in it, and they are a little worn but in pretty good condition. We are willing to give it to someone in the ward before we take it to Goodwill.

RS BDAY BASH- TOMORROW NIGHT!!

We wanted to send one last invitation to the Relief Society Birthday party this Thursday because you’re important and we want you to come! Come celebrate a history of love, service and support. And who knows? You might even make a new friend!

Dinner starts at 6:30 pm followed by some special birthday activities. Childcare is provided.

Stuff Swap opens at 6:00 so comb your house for any gently used items you’d like to share! You’re welcome to take something you like even if you don’t bring anything and all leftovers will be taken to a local charity at the end of the evening.

STAKE GARDEN PLOTS

The Rogers Stake will continue the "Corn Farm Project" this summer. The corn will be planted in the gardens located at the Centerton Ward site. This year we plan to plant a little more than five acres of sweet corn for member use.

Individual garden plots will also be available. If you would like to reserve a plot for your family, please contact Brother Tim Isabell (644-8281) no later than April 1st.

The stake will continue to provide water, and faucets are located at central sites; however, families will need to furnish personal water hoses to get the water to their plots. An electric fence has been installed to keep deer and raccoons away from the plants. Gates are provided to allow access into the individual plots.

All who are interested are encouraged to become involved. If you are unsure about starting a garden, the Ensign recently published a great article Seeds of Self Reliance that offers great suggestions on gardening in limited space and gardening on a budget, etc. etc.

You may have as many plots as you need--each family is responsible for watering, weeding and maintenance of their own plot. The ground will be plowed, harrowed, and disked. We are setting a goal to be ready for planting by April 1—weather permitting, but water will not be available until April 15 due to potential late freezing.

HUMANITARIAN UPDATE

Dear Sisters,

First off, we want to express our gratitude and appreciation to everyone who has helped us with our project for Youth Bridges and the Stake Humanitarian Day. We have been so overwhelmed with all of your support, donations, and time. We want to give a big Thank You to the our Young Women for their donations and for coming to our Humanitarian Night last Thursday and helping us with the bags.

We are so happy to report that we have not only meet but have greatly exceeded our goals for a majority of the items on our wish list. The only items that we are low on are:

• combs

• hand towels

This is pretty phenomenal and we know that we can get these last few goals meet in the next week and a half. You can bring any donations to the church on Sunday or you can drop them off at the home of Jill Manning or Lori Hill.

RACE FOR INDEPENDENCE

FREE FIREWOOD

Sam and Heidi Stewart of Bentonville 2nd ward have cut down trees in their backyard. They have very kindly offered the wood to whomever can use it. They will not be keeping it long. If you, or anyone else you know, has a use for it, please contact Heidi at 479-366-3152. They are very close to Walton and Tiger Blvd.
