Clarifications on the Crib Quilt

There has been some confusion on the crib quilt.  To begin, you need only to purchase these fabrics that are highlighted in blue:

Here is what you need to buy:

The first class, which will be cutting the squares, will be held on Thursday April 29th at the church.  There will be two different sessions.  Times will be announced soon.

Brainstorming Ideas for Pursuit of Excellence

Hey Ladies of the Ward!

It is me again, Chelsie Moline, your resident Pursuit of Excellence support system!

I was thinking about getting together with the ladies who are thinking about starting the program. ESPECIALLY any of you who are on the fence, or maybe you just don't know where to start.

You know how there is a book group? (You didn't? Well, email Aubrey Patterson then and get the details because it is FUN)

You know how they all read a book every month, then they get together for an evening of snacks and happiness while they discuss the book?

WELL, I was thinking it would be good to get together with any who want to brain storm about Pursuit of Excellence. Good food, good company, good discussion about ANYTHING that might be confusing to you.

Sound good?

It does to me, too!

So, if you would like to come to my house on April 22nd at 8:30 P.M. and talk about any ideas, concerns, questions, or just to be inspired-- email me at ccmoline@hotmail.com.

I would love to get a head count first, so I know if there is enough interest for this.

I even commited a special speaker for the night-- she might be embarrassed that is what I am calling her -- hmmm... But she said she would be willing to discuss the way she has broken down some goals for Pursuit of Excellence. I am excited for the ideas she can give us!

And don't forget to take a moment to think about your hopes and dreams for yourself. It will help in choosing a goal.

The young women are looking for a few items in preparation for girls camp.  We need tents to hold 6 or more girls each, stoves, dutch ovens, and large coolers!

May Book Group

Ladies,


Our movie night last week was SO.MUCH.FUN! We had an incredible turnout and I hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as I did. We will definitely have to do another movie night in the future!

For May, we will be reading The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman. We discussed this book a few years ago, and it was so good, we're going to do it again! This time we will also incorporate The Five Love Languages of Children. You may want to check this one out if you have already read the original book. However, I find that this is a book (the origianal) I read over and over!

We will meet Thursday, May 6th at 8:30 pm. We still need a host! If you would be willing to host in May (or June...or July...) please let me know!

Below is a brief summary of the book:

Unhappiness in marriage often has a simple root cause: we speak different love languages, believes Dr. Gary Chapman. While working as a marriage counselor for more than 30 years, he identified five love languages: Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Receiving Gifts, Acts of Service, and Physical Touch. In a friendly, often humorous style, he unpacks each one. Some husbands or wives may crave focused attention; another needs regular praise. Gifts are highly important to one spouse, while another sees fixing a leaky faucet, ironing a shirt, or cooking a meal as filling their "love tank." Some partners might find physical touch makes them feel valued. Chapman illustrates each love language with real-life examples from his counseling practice.

There is also a questionnaire to help determine your love language.

And remember, in June we are reading Hunger Games and Catching Fire (you really have to read both!) by Suzanne Collins.

Square Foot Gardening

It's that time of year again!  Time to start thinking about planting a garden.  Please mark your calendars now if you'd like to attend and learn from our resident expert gardener. =)

Crib Quilt Sewing Project

We are so excited to begin our first sewing project in the ward!  If this looks overwhelming to you, just remember that this is not a difficult project and you will have guided help each step of the way!  Estimated time of completion: 3-6 hours.  Cost approx $20 or less.  If you missed the sign ups, and are interested, send an email to Leslee Lai.  (see below)

BLOCK SIZES: 3”, 4½”

Here is what you need to buy:

You only need to buy fabric. The first class will be the cutting class. We will buy only the fabrics highlighted in blue first as I will give you some different options for the lining and batting. If you are needing or wanting help in your fabric selection, this Thursday, 8 April I will meet shoppers at Hobby Lobby to give ideas and help with yardage amounts. Please email me if you want to meet at Hobby Lobby. I will do a 9:30am meet and a 7:00pm meet. Remember that Hobby Lobby closes at 8pm.
